Host a Watch Party During the Global Soccer Tournament
The Bay Area will host six matches at Levi’s Stadium from June 13 to July 1, 2026, with up to 280,000 visitors expected in the region. This is a major opportunity for Silicon Valley businesses to attract foot traffic — but every venue showing matches must follow specific broadcasting and trademark rules.

The Dos and Don’ts
Planning to host a watch party at your business during the global soccer tournament this summer? The Bay Area Host Committee playbook outlines clear rules every venue needs to follow to avoid trademark issues, fines, or shutdowns. Here’s a quick summary for Chamber members — for full details, download the playbook above.
Quick Facts for Chamber Members
- Six matches will be played at Levi’s Stadium between June 13 and July 1, 2026
- Up to 280,000 visitors are expected in the Bay Area during the tournament
- Venues expecting fewer than 1,000 attendees do not need a special license
- Venues expecting 1,000 or more attendees must apply for a public viewing license through the official portal
- Matches must be shown live via FOX Sports (English) or Telemundo (Spanish)
DO
- Show the entire match live, plus 10 minutes before kickoff and 10 minutes after the final whistle
- Use generic event names like “Match Day,” “Soccer Tournament,” or “Summer Soccer Celebration”
- Use generic imagery — soccer balls, pitches, stadiums, and country flags are all fine
- Confirm your cable provider’s commercial TV package includes public performance rights
- Use your own business logo, colors, and branding
- Sell your normal food and beverages as usual
- Notify the Chamber if you plan to install a new screen or projector for your event
DON’T
- Don’t use “FIFA,” “World Cup,” or “World Cup 26” in your event name, flyers, signage, or social media
- Don’t use official tournament logos, team crests, or trophy images
- Don’t imply your venue is sponsored by or affiliated with the tournament
- Don’t charge admission, cover fees, or seek sponsorships for the screening
- Don’t run themed promotions like “World Cup Happy Hour” or “Tournament Wings”
- Don’t stream matches from personal accounts or unofficial sources
- Don’t place non-sponsor brand logos near your screens or menu boards
- Don’t show delayed broadcasts, replays, or modified footage
A Note on Violations
The tournament’s governing body actively monitors public viewings. Past violations have resulted in cease-and-desist letters, event shutdowns, and fines. If you accidentally post trademarked content on social media, delete it immediately and repost using generic language like #MatchDay or #SoccerWatchParty.
